Medication administration carries with it the most risk and impact on resident well-being. High-alert medications (HAMs) are an important component of drug therapy for the older adult. This educational activity will examine the potential risk for serious injuries or death to residents associated with opioid analgesics, antidiabetics, and antithrombotics as well as standardized best practices to prevent adverse drug events related to HAMs. This educational activity is for any staff members who administer medications or assist with self-medication.
